It is advisable that you buy an Samsung LCD TV with a built in tuner if you want your LCD monitor to be used as a TV and a computer monitor.LCD televisions and monitors consume less power than other display types, are lightweight and produce a bright picture. The latest in LCD technology has increased the power savings and a slimmer profile. Samsung LCD TV have poor contrast ratios. This is due to backlighting shining through the panel. Color can distort when looking at an LCD from an angle especially with older LCD monitors. Because of the backlighting, pixels on an LCD are unable to generate light independent of the rest of the picture. Color accuracy suffers on Samsung LCD TV due to this fact. Color saturation is reduced at low intensity levels due to a poor black-level. Images are satisfactory but not accurate due to problems with black-level, gray-scale and Gamma.

Each pixel on a plasma television is able to control brightness and color individually. This increases contrast ratio and color accuracy. Viewing angles on plasma televisions are outstanding, and they are much cheaper than LCDs. The Samsung LCD TV is good when watching at the very center, but the more you get farther from the center though you can still look at the images at the screen you cannot fully watch the images very well. The refresh rate is slower. LCD TVs have refresh rates from 60 Hz to 240 Hz, whereas plasma TVs refresh anywhere from 400-600 Hz. It makes a difference when watching sports on HD channels and playing HD games like PS3 and X-BOX 360.The viewing angle for most Samsung LCD TV is very narrow. Slow response times and scan rate conversion result in severe motion artifacts and image degradation for moving or rapidly changing images.
